 Core Logging 

Collectively, our team of geologists and technicians have logged and managed over 10,000 cores.

 

In fact, DigitCore Software was originally developed in-house to expedite this whole process, from making depth corrections so that your cores are precisely aligned with geophysical data, to core logging where we pick and record geological features such as lithology, facies, sedimentary structures, rock accessories, trace fossils, and stains — just to name a few.

 

Also included with our core logging services are:

• Sampling for testing oil saturation, porosity, permeability, oil density and viscosity, PSD, etc.

• Descriptions, where our team make notes on important geological features.

• Data integration: we import analytical data in to the striplog so that all data is displayed and reported in one plot.

• Data exports in a variety of formats (e.g. so you can upload your geological findings into other applications, or for sharing reports with colleagues and partners).

 

DigitCore’s geologists are experts on certain subjects, including sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, trace fossils, shale oil and gas, and gas-over-bitumen.

DigitCore has designed portable imaging systems specifically for on-site imaging to ensure high to ultra-high resolution core images can be acquired efficiently.

 Digitizing legacy data 

In 2016 we completed a project for a large oil sands company that involved taking boxes of information, such as photographs of cores from the 1970s, and transforming all of this historical information into valuable geological insights that can be used today.

DigitCore Software can import legacy data such as core images, LAS files, and raster logs with ease and precision.

Led by our founder and oil sands veteran, Dr. Greg Hu, geological consulting services are offered under H & H Consulting Inc.
